CNBC Report – Cell Tower Companies: “Arms Dealer In Wireless Battle” Tower Companies Making Almost “Pure Profit”
Jim Cramer, host of CNBC’s “Mad Money,” was very excited to share about one of his new favorite investment opportunities: the cell tower sector of the telecommunication industry. Cramer’s support is based on the “Growing Demand For Cell Phone Towers,” as well as the “Terrific Business Model” that the telecom companies have developed and executed successfully.
Mr. Cramer explains that this business model is based on the premise constructing a cell tower, and then lease space on that tower to multiple wireless carriers, resulting in “Pure Profit.”
Unfortunately, this “Pure Profit” to which Mr. Cramer refers is often realized only by the tower companies as property owners enter into undervalued lease agreements that continue to depreciate over time.
Mr. Cramer provides a very pointed and insightful characterization of cell tower companies. He states that the companies who own and operate cell towers are basically fulfilling the role of an “Arms Dealer In A Seemingly Endless Battle,” supplying resources to like AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile and Sprint in growing their customer base.
